Types and properties of building sealants

Sealant is one of the important materials of building curtain wall, its performance and quality not only directly affect the safety of building curtain wall, but also closely related to the development of curtain wall industry.

According to its use, the sealant used for building curtain walls can be divided into: building sealant (weather resistant glue), structural sealant, insulating glass sealant, fireproof sealant and mildew proof sealant.

The user should choose the appropriate sealant according to different curtain walls and uses.

With the development of the building curtain wall industry, some new special adhesive products have emerged in recent years.

Stone curtain wall, aluminum curtain wall, large plate glass, etc. should be the first choice of this special adhesive, can also be used in the curtain wall with silicone sealant in the appropriate technical performance of the glue.

Some sealants need to be primers when used to ensure the sealing effect.  Among the many varieties of sealant, the structural sealant used for structural glass bond sealing can only be silicone sealant. Silicone sealant has good UV resistance. It is a very stable chemical and has the best aging resistance among existing sealants. Therefore, silicone sealant is the best and most widely used sealant in building sealing.
